Care for Cowboy Boots

You always want to take amazing care of all of your investments, and cowboy boots, because of their cost, are no exception. You may think that it is too hard to take care of your cowboy boots because of all that you do in them, but as difficult as it can be sometimes, it is well worth it.

First, make sure that you clean them regularly. Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe off any mud that may have gotten on them recently. If your leather boots are too dry, make sure you are using only leather conditioner, not any other kinds of soaps that could ruin the finish, to help them.

Cowhide cowboy boots are very tough and durable, but they still need care. Just like above, brush off any dirt or mud and then take care of them with a leather conditioner. You can keep the color looking great by using a shoe color cream that matches the exact color of your boot.

Some prefer the suede cowboy boot that is still pretty tough, but also a softer boot. Clean these only with a nylon brush and a stain protector. You never want to be out in the mud with these boots.

Next, you have the option of having ostrich leather. This, much like the suede, is softer to the touch. Use only a reptile conditioner to clean and condition your ostrich boots. You’ll always want to clear any dust off before you apply the conditioner.
Snakeskin is also a popular cowboy boot choice. When you take care of these boots, you’ll want to wipe away the dirt against the scales to make sure you get everything. If you want to polish them up make sure you use grain of the scales.

Alligator boots are another great choice when you want a strong but great look to them. Keep these clean by brushing off all the dirt and dust with a soft cloth. Then, use reptile conditioner whenever you feel like you need it.

There is also lizard, and elephant boots if you like the more exotic cowboy boots. Just like the others, brush off dirt and then use leather conditioner on them.

Ariat, Justin, Charlie 1 Horse, Chippewa, Olathe, Lucchese, and Tony Lama all make these types of exotic cowboy boots. Remember, the more exotic, the more expensive, but it might just be worth it to you.
