Choosing The Right Cowboy Hat For You
Choosing The Right Cowboy Hat For You

While some may think cowboy hats are only used by people that work outdoors on ranches, the truth is they can be handy for anyone. These hats are used today by a lot of different people. With so many options to choose from, it can be hard to know which hat will be best for you.

Cowboy hats are meant to be used by men, women, and children so there are a lot of options out there. When shopping for one it is important to know the type of hat you would like to buy. They come in a variety of styles and sizes, so be sure to try on ones that specifically fit you.

Cowboy hats work wonderfully when used outside. The brims of their hat shield your face from the sun, and tone down bright glares that the sun might cause. Owning one of these hats will also can keep your head cooler so that your scalp does not get burnt and get too hot.

Cowboy hats come in different types of materials. Felt and straw are the most common hats sold in stores now-a-days. There are other hat materials out there, though they are not as common.

Felt hats are made from a thicker material. This material is better able to protect you from harmful UV rays. It also is better able to handle the normal wear and tear that hats go through when they are used.

While felt is more durable, felt hats do not provide good ventilation. Many people can suffer from a hot head when working outside in the sun with a felt hat. They are especiallyuncomfortable during very hot and humid months.

If you want more ventilation, straw cowboy hats are the way to go. They have gaps in the straw that allows air to move freely through so your head will not overheat. Straw hats still have drawbacks, however, in that they are stiffer, are less comfortable, and the gaps in the hat do not do a good job with protecting your skin from the sun's rays.

The best option with these hats is to find a hybrid of the two. Felt and straw mixed together will allow some breathing room so that you do not become too hot, but also provide a stronger hat. When choosing the cowboy hat, remember the larger the brim the better change you have of protecting your skin from the sun.
