Cowboy Hats - Which One is For Me?

Cowboy Hats: Which One is For Me?

There are many different reasons why you buy a cowboy hat. Seasons have a lot to do with which cowboy hat you need to get. If you will be experiencing a cold winter you’ll need a hat that will be able to face it with you. You’ll also need a different hat for those hot summers.

Summer Cowboy Hat:

When you are out in the heat of the day, you’ll want to be as protected as you can be from the sun. The following are some hats that will help you:

Palm Leaf- These come in different styles like the bleach finished, finished, Mexican, and Guatemalan. If you want to protect yourself from the sun, a Palm Leaf would be perfect.

Rafia/ Sea Grass - Also known as the beach cowboy, this is a very flexible and lightweight hat. What I enjoy most about it is that you are able to change the shape of it yourself.

Straw – These were originally woven from straw but now are made from Shantung. There are many different types of straw hats. They are known for being perfect summer hats because they are breathable.

Winter Cowboy Hat:

Milano, Greelery, Serratelli, and Stetsons, all make wonderful wintertime hats to help you stay warm. You’ll need a hat that will be able to endure the winter storms.

Types of Felt Cowboy Hats- Fur and wool felt are the most popular but there are some others too that wont be mentioned here.

Wool Cowboy Hats – Wool hats are very popular because they are always priced just right. They are also great because they are so water resistant. The hats themselves have a dull finish look to them and tend to be a little rough.

Fur Felt Cowboy Hats – There are so many different kinds of fur felt cowboy hats. One of the most popular is the beaver. These are great because they are so durable and water resistant. If you prefer another kind of fur they come in different kids from hare, cashmere to nutria, and rabbit.
