Five Fun Ways to Wear a Cowboy Hat

Finding your very own cowboy look has never been more fun! With so many types and styles of western wear available, the possibilities are almost endless.  But changing or spicing up your cowboy style can all begin and end with a new cowboy hat

The cowboy hat in so many ways defines your entire style.  “Western” is no longer a sufficient term to describe the cowboy hat because there are dozens of designs and types of western hats on the market today.  Finding a cowboy hat that perfectly defines your individual style or just your mood for the day has never been easier.  Check out the following 5 ways to wear your cowboy hat.

The Rugged Cowboy—the rugged cowboy look is defined with leather.  You can find real leather cowboy hats or felt hats with braided leather bands if you are searching for a rough and tough look.  Australian cowboy hats capture this look.  If you are looking for an authentic, rugged look, go for a natural, raw, misshapen hat.

South Western Cowboy—Think New Mexico, Arizona, and Baja California for this look.  The South Western cowboy hat will be adorned with turquoise stones.  Turquoise stones are an eye catching way to bring out a South Western or Native American flair.

Rhinestone Cowboy—this is a glamorous, “show-cowboy” look.  To achieve it, find ways to jewel up a cowboy hat with gems, rhinestones, or even pearls for the ladies.  Some cowboy hats display bands that are glittered or sequined for an even more affordable way to add some bling. The Rhinestone Cowboy style is great for rodeos, parades, and shows.

Texas Cowboy—this hat will have people saying, “Don’t mess with Texas!” The Texan look is undeniable, inexcusable, and still oh-so dignified. That’s why its style has lasted through the decades.  To give yourself this look, chose a cowboy hat that is slightly wider brimmed and of course taller crowned.  Then adorn your hat’s band with sterling silver Conchos, lone stars, or longhorns.

Cowboy Casanova—this style refers to the heartbreaking, rebellious cowboy that men want to be, and women want to be with.  The style is simply achieved by finding a low-profile cowboy hat in dark tones—blacks, grays, and charcoals. The simplicity of the style and the dark shade of the hat helps to make a subtle, yet mysterious look.

Remember that these five cowboy styles are only a small handful of the host of styles that are available.  You may know right away which style fits your personality the best.  Or perhaps you like a different look for every occasion or mood you find yourself in. But whatever your preference, have fun with selecting and dressing up your cowboy style.
