The History of Justin Boots
In 1879 H.J. Justin left Indiana and headed to Spanish Fort, Texas where he started out as a boot repairman. H.J. Justin soon built up from the ground a company making boots that changed the world of boots forever.

Business was good but H.J. wanted a new challenge, and with the railroad passing through Bocona, Texas he knew that would be the best place for him and his family. H.J.’s wife was very supportive of his career by putting together a kit in the early 1890’s that was centered on measuring custom boots, and those that carried around this kit soon became a strong selling team for H.J.

The company name was later changed to H.J. Justin and Sons when H.J.’s two sons came to work for him. Soon his boots were being sold in Canada, Mexico, Cuba, as well as 26 states. H.J. had built up quite the name for himself but soon passed away and his sons moved his company over to Fort Worth, Texas.

John Justin, Jr sought after and acquired the controlling interested in the company in 1948, and he helped the company once again to take off and grow. They later worked with and made a deal with Acme Brick, and combined themselves to make Justin Industries. Soon other companies followed and became part of Justin Industries like Nocona Boot Company, Chippewa Shoe Company, and Tony Lama Boots.

In 2000 Justin Boots was taken over by Berkshire Hathaway. With all that Berkshire could offer, they were able to be given strong marketing and have grown again to become the legend that they once were.
